June 2017, Deal, England - The Cliff Top Challenge
Not exactly a Boo Hag Event, but in many ways, the catalyst for everything you see here. Created in 2014 by Chantele and Phil Rashbrook (with a little push by Boo Hag founder, Mark Wood), The Cliff Top is an amazing 55+ mile trail run up England's eastern coastline. Crossing fields, canals, beachfront and an amazing climb up the White Cliffs of Dover, this one is definitely worth the trip. The after party is pretty damn good, too. And did I mention it's a fundraiser for breast cancer research? So yeah, find a way to get there and do this one.
June 29th - July 7th, 2017. Ice & Iron
It's simple, really. We're going on a 100+ mile trek over the West Highland Way, from Milngavie to Fort William, Scotland, culminating in a summit of Ben Nevis, the UK's highest peak.
But as we're fond of saying here at Boo Hag, SIMPLE ≠ EASY.
You see, any tour company in the UK can give you a route map, a list of highlights, and a slap on the ass to send you on your way. We want to give you more than that.
Boo Hag is coordinating with several volunteer organizations in the Highlands to provide you a unique cultural and environmental experience. Depending on the day, along with hiking some of the most beautiful country to world has to offer, we could be clearing trails, repairing ancient stone walls or helping with upkeep on one of the many bothies (no I'm not telling you what a bothy is. You're all bright folks, figure it out) on the trails.
There's even talk of tracking and tagging the rare and elusive Haggis....
So let me make this loud and clear: This is NOT a leisurely summer stroll. If you have even the slightest belief that you'll flake on your team and decide to quit, or that you can half ass your way up the trail: DO NOT SIGN UP. I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm just saving you, me and everyone else involved a lot of stress, aggravation, and lost time.
Yea, you will be putting in work. But in return, you'll gain something moresignificant than a bunch of pictures or cheesy souvenirs. You'll leave knowing that you did your part to preserve the history and beauty of the Highlands...
Oh, and there's a medal, too.
September 2017 - THE GRINDER. Time and Location TBA. Trust me, you REALLY don't want to do this one.
